Betty Kondo

Betty Kondo, originally from Bowie, Maryland, has been a professional dancer for over 15 years. She received her training at Maryland Youth Ballet and spent several summers participating in summer programs throughout the country. She began her professional career with Orlando Ballet and has since performed with many classical and contemporary ballet companies including Kansas City Ballet, Eugene Ballet, and Owen/Cox Dance Group. She has competed and won high medals in the American Dance Competition as well as the Helsinki International Ballet Competition. In addition to performing, she has over ten years of experience teaching ballet, pointe, contemporary, conditioning, and choreography. She feels honored to return to Ballet Arts, serving the Ensemble Company as the Artistic Director and is excited to inspire the next generation of dancers to fall in love with ballet.

Lauren Wertz

Lauren has been dancing at Ballet Arts School of Dance since 2001 where she studied different styles of dance, including ballet, contemporary, and Cecchetti. Lauren successfully passed four grades in the Cecchetti curriculum. During her time at Ballet Arts, Lauren was a member of Ballet Arts Ensemble (BAE) from 2012-2015 where she performed in The Nutcracker, Cinderella, The Dinner Party, several excerpts from a variety of classical ballets, and many more.

 

Lauren attended Kalamazoo Community College and graduated with honors as a member of Phi Theta Kappa, earning an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Culinary Arts and Sustainability. She was selected as BAE's Artistic Assistant in 2021 and enjoys serving in this position.
